If you find yourself interested in a home-based opportunity and want to pursue it, acquire as much information as possible about the company. Know who you are dealing with. A legitimate company will have no problem with providing answers to your questions concerning costs, work involved, etc.

If your research indicates that the company may be a legitimate online employment agency and charges a small fee to search their database, this is not necessarily a warning sign of a scam, as this is typical, and even many offline employment agencies do this.

However, the fee should only be for database access and to post your resume online. There should be no further fees, and no work from home jobs should ever require you to pay for supplies beyond the normal ‘tools of the trade’ such as a phone and computer.
